Objective
Applicants are sought to fill two postdoctoral research positions in the computational physics/condensed matter theory groups at the University of Leipzig, Germany, to work on a European Community funded project concerned with calculating thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional magnetic systems with anisotropy using quantum Monte Carlo computer simulation techniques (see http://www.physik.uni-leipzig.de/~janke(opens in new window) for more information). Researchers with a Ph.D. in statistical physics or condensed matter theory are encouraged to apply, particularly those with experience in computer simulations of quantum systems. Both positions are for two years, the first starting in 2002. For the second position, starting in 2004, additional research competence in dissipative quantum systems is required. Interested candidates should send a CV summarizing research interests and experience, a list of publications and should arrange to have three letters of references sent to: Prof. Dr, Wolfhard Janke, Computational Physics Group, Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Leipzig, Augustusplatz 10/11, 04109 Leipzig, Germany ( e-mail:janke@itp.uni-leipzig.de). The University of Leipzig is an affirmative action/equal opportunities employer.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
