Investigation of neural mechanisms of anxiety inhibition by functional magnetic resonance imaging

Objective

The main hypothesis to be tested is that the medical prefrontal cortex is activated as a function of the conscious, volitional attempt to suppress anxiety, irrespective of the type of anxiety to be suppressed.
