Objective
Area of Research Training The principal aims of this proposal is to gain an understanding of the role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) in neurodegenerative disease. Since these molecules have been implicated in a multitude of neurodegenerative and neuro inflammatory diseases, and recent work has suggested a protective role for PPAR activation in Alzheimer's disease and Multiple Sclerosis, we now wish to investigate and understand the mechanisms involved in mediating these events. You will work in multi skilled team environment and gain extensive experience in a number of techniques including neuronal cell biology, primary cell culture and models of neurod generation. The work environment You will be based at our impressive new £250 million, science complex at New Frontiers Science Park, Harlow, UK which provides access to a leading edge facility incorporating state of the art equipment and dedicated teams of support services that provide researchers with an atmosphere totally committed to pioneering research. For more information on GlaxoSmithKline, visit our website at www.gsk.com Qualification/Expertise Required by the Applicants A PhD in Cell Biology or Neurobiology is required. Experience in molecular biology is essential. You should have a flexible working approach, good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
