Objective
Generically, the research training offered in this proposal will be in the development of novel computational quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) techniques and applications science and their application in the design and synthesis of novel chemical products that deliver surface and interfacial, tribological and polymeric materials modifying effects. The research training will build enhanced understanding of the relationship between the desired properties of effect chemicals and their molecular structures, thus enabling more efficient and cost-effective new product development. Research training will also embrace colloid, interfacial, tribological and polymeric materials science along with synthetic methodology focused on carbohydrate modification and controlled polymerisation/oligomerisation using both enzymes and homogeneous catalysis. Valuable exposure to customer focused applications techniques of importance in the oilfield, lubricating and polymer performance industry sectors will also be provided.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
