New macro porous particle based water treatment technologies for the removal of hydrophilic systems

Objective

Positions for POST -GRADUATE FELLOW in Separation Technology Research Akzo Nobel Chemicals is looking for two enthusiastic postgraduate fellows who will perform innovating research on developing new water treatment systems at Chemicals Research Arnhem (CRA), the Netherlands. The program aims at finding solutions for the removal of hydrophilic contaminants (e.g. MTBE, phenol) from various streams, a growing problem where yet no feasible solution is available. An attractive solution for this growing problem (MTBE for instance is already being banned in California) could be found in a recent developed technology applying macro-porous particles in a regenerative system. Development of such a system for hydrophilic components combines knowledge of adsorption, extraction, process technology and modeling to realize the most viable solution. This training program offers fellows the opportunity to participate in all aspects of a development program, thus from the lab scale experiments via modeling to the actual field trials. Akzo Nobel with headquarters in the Netherlands serves customers throughout the world with healthcare products, coatings and chemicals. The company currently employs 68,400 people in 75 countries. The Chemicals Research Amhem (CRA) is one of the main research centers of Akzo Nobel Chemicals and is located in Arnhem (the Netherlands). It supports all Business Units within Akzo Nobel Chemicals and constitutes over 120 senior researchers, of which 2 part-time professors, and 15 technical support staff.
