Automated identification of human peptides by mass spectrometry to complement proteome research

Objetivo

BioVisioN is an independent R&D company dedicated to develop new ways to diagnose and treat serious diseases. Our company develops worldwide leading novel proteomics and functional genomics technologies - mass spectrometry, peptide proteomics (peptidomics), bioinformatics, and phage surface display. In a highly competitive environment, especially to USA and Japan, disease-associated peptides and proteins in human body fluids, cells and tissues are identified. They serve as biomarkers and lead compounds for pharmaceutical development.
1.) We are seeking two qualified analytical chemists to be trained in research and development regarding mass spectrometry and LC/MS. This will involve established MS techniques as well as developing new techniques for different instrument types to support the identification and profiling of peptides in body fluids, cells and tissues. The successful candidate will have a PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry (or equivalent) . Required is a strong analytical background and documented expertise in ESI and/or MALDI mass spectrometry and MS/MS techniques. Experience in protein biochemistry, micro-analytical methods, automation and/or familiarity with data archival and database handling is highly desired.
2. ) We are seeking a qualified scientist to be trained in research and development regarding the analysis and data mining of mass spectrometry and proteomics data. This involves the application and development of databases, spectra libraries and software tools. The successful candidate will have a PhD in physics, chemistry, biochemistry or biology and a strong background in information technologies. Skills in software development on WINTEL platforms (e.g. C++ VBA) are required. A background in protein biochemistry is a strong plus and skills in database development are highly appreciated.
