Objective
The research executed within the Business Unit Combat Systems of Thales Nederland B.V. is focused on the actual themes of Network Centric Operations and Shared Situation Awareness An overall strategic project 'Digital Battle Space' has been defined which studies the concepts of Network Centric Warfare and Information Superiority. Main focus within these research areas is on evolutionary tools and methods to support the Shared situation Awareness of the military in fleet-wide and joint operations at the tactical level. The next generation Command & Control Systems, based on network centric operation principles. The research topics on which the fellow's training programme focuses are:
1 ) Force Data Fusion;
2) Recognition Identification & Plan Recognition;
3) Decision Support;
4) Agent-based Decision Support;
5) User-based Development of Software Systems. Objective of the proposed research project is to gain technical knowledge on these critical research topics, in order to develop next generation (new and improved) command & control systems products, together with improvements of the design and development process. This means that the research in this project covers the complete range of innovation challenges for this domain. The research will be done within already running research initiatives that are under the supervision of the Knowledge and Technology organization of Thales Nederland.
