Objectif
Bayerisches Geoinstitut, University of Bayreuth, Germany as a Marie-Curie Training site offers fellowships in "High-pressure crystal chemistry and physics of Earth's materials" to young researchers pursuing doctoral studies for periods of 3 to 12 months. It provides them with the possibility of undertaking part of their studies outside their home country, and allows them to benefit from working with an internationally recognized group in their area of research. The Marie Curie training site offers their fellows in-depth training in all aspects of experimental techniques applied to problems in geo- and material sciences, in particular high-pressure synthesis, deformation, in-situ measurements of physical properties (elasticity, rheology , thermal and electrical conductivity, texture analysis) , chemical properties (element partitioning, water solubility, phase stability) , phase characterization by single-crystal and powder XRD, TEM, as well as IR/VIS/UV, Raman, Moessbauer and NMR spectroscopies. Successful applicants will have a strong background in physical and chemical aspects of geosciences, solid-state chemistry, physics or material sciences. Applications from female scientists are particularly encouraged. The researchers must be nationals of a European Union Member State or an Associated State or residing in the Community for at least the last five years, and must be pursuing doctoral studies outside Germany. The age limit is 35 years at the time of the selection; allowance will be made for compulsory military or civil service and childcare. Two to three fellowships per year are available in the years 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
