Molecular genetics and epidemiology of cancer susceptibility

Objective

The Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, University Medical Centre Charité, Humboldt University Berlin, offers pre-doc positions to study the importance of inherited genetic variations in genes that potentially modify cancer risk. The project will focus on the determination, detection and functional characterization of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). The molecular genetic techniques used are automated PCR, real-time PCR, PCR-RFLP analysis, and automated sequence analysis. Rt-PCRs, western-blots as well as host-cell assays will be used to determine the functional importance of new SNPs. Moreover, the training will include an introduction to molecular epidemiological methods and statistics. The fellow will be involved in ongoing studies, but he/she is also welcome to analyze study samples of his/her own. The application should include a curriculum vitae and references from two academic referees. Good knowledge of the English or German language is indispensable.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
