Objective
The Center for Dewatering R&D at NTNU-SINTEF, has a large diversity of heat pump and conventional dryers . Some of the dryers are the adiabatic fluidized bed heat pump dryer (lab scale) , non-adiabatic fluidized bed heat pump dryer (prototype plant), tunnel heat pwnp dryer (lab) , new CO2 fluidized bed heat pump for drying/coating/agglomerating and granulating in the same unit (lab scale) , conventional fluidized bed dryer (bench scale) , conventional high pressure fluidized bed dryer (lab), several portable drying chambers for drying/coating/agglomerating and granulating, vacuum freeze-dryer (bench and lab) and spray dryers (water removal capacities 0 5, 1 , 6 and 50 kg/hr) .The doctorates will be supervised by NTNU professors and SINTEF senior researchers in the field of heat pump drying. The language is English and the fellows may learn Norwegian. Fellows from Scandinavian, Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries are also welcome to the training program because the main advisors are fluent in these languages. The main advisors have received awards indicating their competence and dedication in this unique R&D field. The fellows will be in contact with the industries that are members of the Center. The doctorates will develop abilities and skills to comply with present and future R&D needs At the conclusion of their work they will:- be trained in state-of-art technologies and - work with a dedicated research group - gain knowledge in a new field of research and have experience with unique dryers - and facilities available in the Center for Dewatering R&D - be able to compare the new technology with the conventional in a single site - be involved design and solving complex problems in process control and regulation - address such problems in several angles with focus on high product quality, low use of energy and minimum environmental impact - to strengthen European academic cooperation - to integrate local and international research centers and universities .
