Novel methodologies to assess in vivo metabolism

Objective

Salaries for fellows are available at the Amino Acids and Stable Isotopes Laboratory/Diabetes Section of the Istituto Scientifico San Raffaele of Milan. The ideal candidates should be holders of an university degree (as MD or MS) doing a doctoral or equivalent degree, and willing to be trained in methodologies to assess the metabolic regulation of glucose, lipid and protein metabolism at the whole body, organ and cellular levels. Training will be strongly oriented to clinical applications. The research topic will be in the area of the study of in vivo regulation of metabolic processes in metabolic diseases, cancer, transplantation and liver and kidney diseases. The trainees will be exposed in an integrated fashion to
1) basic research, including the study of hormonal and metabolic regulation of signal transduction,
2) clinical research, including the in vivo assessment of metabolic aspects of healthy subjects and patients and
3) the academic environment of the recently founded Università Vita e Salute.
