Objective
Under the Marie Curie training sites, the Laboratoire des Collisions Atomiques et Moléculaires(LCAM) at the University Paris-Sud in Orsay (South of Paris) offers visiting positions for doctoral fellows (PhD students) from any European member or associate state. The research training takes place within a group composed of both experimentalists and theoreticians. It is centered on particle interaction with surfaces and involves electrons, neutral or ionised atoms and molecules. The main research areas are dynamical charge exchange at surfaces; adsorbate induced surface reactivity and electron diagnostics of condensed molecules. Experimental techniques include multi-parameter coincidence measurements, High Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (HREELS) and other conventional surface techniques (LEED, AES, UPS, ISS, etc.). Theoretical methods involve structure, dynamics (3D wave-packet propagation) and modelling. Fellows interested in particle surface dynamics and having or willing to acquire training in any of the above mentioned subjects are welcome to join the group for a period of 4 to 8 months. The selected candidates will be offered training in the fields of expertise of the laboratory and preference will be given to those seeking complementary competence for increasing the research potential. The laboratory benefits from the unique environment of the Orsay campus of the University Paris-Sud. Students will have full access to accommodation and sports facilities, with the opportunity to attend French courses. The LCAM offers equal opportunity for male and female individuals from any member or associate state.
