Objective
Description:
The aim of this project is to develop a 500MHz accelerating cavity for electron storage rings, with damped higher order momdes which is presently not available at any of the synchrotron radiation facilities world wide. This new type of cavity is required to minimise the beam quality degrading effects by higher order modes driven coupled bunch instabilities of the electron beam which give rise to a reduction of the photon beam brightness, which is the most essential figure of merit of third generation storage ring sources. The use of such cavities will therefore allow to exploit the full potential of third generation SR sources and enhance significantly the quality of research with modern SR facilities.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
