Objective
We are rapidly moving towards an information infrastructure that does not distinguish between computing and communication, but rather provides an integrated set of distributed services to the user. The research community must be prepared to deal with these changes, integrating the disciplines of communications, networking and traditional computer science. On the basis of this belief, our network intendeds to develop a training and research programme which provides fundamental tools in advanced networking technologies (Optical Networks, Radio Networks and Satellite--Based Mobile Systems), and in constructive Computer Science (design and analysis of algorithms). The senior members of this project have differentiated research experience in all above areas and will educate young researchers to fully exploit the power of advanced algorithmic techniques to obtain efficient solutions to the realistic algorithmic problems arising by the efficient use of the above networking technologies.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
