Objective
The TOSTISP programme will train young researchers in the methods needed to analyze and model turbulence in the space plasma environment. Such training is essential in the European context to
(a) maximize the return from current ESA space missions obtaining data of turbulent plasmas (SOHO, Cluster and Ulysses) and
(b) to train a new generation of young European scientists for the next generation of such space missions (Solar-B, Bepi-Colombo, Solar Orbiter and STEREO). The researchers will receive training in:
(1) the analysis of time series of data from turbulent plasmas such as the solar wind,
(2) the analysis of images of the solar corona, and detection of turbulence and small-scale structures,
(3) the development, running and interpretation of large-scale magneto hydrodynamic simulation models of turbulent plasmas, using both massively parallel and Grid methods and
(4) the management of research programmes, such as the development of coordinated observing campaigns. The training will be accomplished by the presence of post-docs in the research groups, through summer schools and smaller training meetings on turbulence, and through post -doc "swaps", where the post -doc experiences different institutions. In addition, the network will provide training for a number of non-EU-funded students.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
