Combinatorial structure of intractable problems

Objective

The whole project arises from the need to integrate different approaches to study discrete mathematics and the need to expose young European researchers that aim to work in discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science to a large array of techniques. We feel that at present no European university is providing such training. Moreover, this can only be achieved through an interdisciplinary project like the present one, where young researchers and students spend some time working with different teams and through a planned series of schools and itinerant guest lecturers, that will go through the different sites recurring about their field of expertise. At the middle of the project, a special school is planned for gifted undergraduate students from any European university where they will be introduced to the techniques and problems in contemporary discrete mathematics.
