Objective
The proposed RTN aims to provide training in the field of spin-dependent transport in nanostructures, by exploring phenomena and device applications that will lay the ground for a future spintronics technology. 360 person-months of training will be provided, mainly to young postdoctoral researches, and to a smaller extent to pre-doctoral students. They will receive both local training in specialist skills by working in the groups of established leaders in the field, and training through extended visits to other teams. All will regularly attend international schools, workshops and conferences, and, by presenting their work there, learn to improve their communication skills. A summer school on spintronics will be organized within the first two years of funding, to help new pre- and postdoctoral researchers to enter the field. Pre-doctoral students will also take graduate courses on advanced topics and attend seminars, given by local scientists or visitors.
