Frontier applications of cryogenic detectors to astroparticle physics, material sciences, semiconductor industries, x-ray fluorescence analysis, macromolecule mass spectroscopy, nuclear-subnuclear physics

Objective

The activity of the network is characterized by a unique multidisciplinarity, from solid state to nuclear and sub nuclear physics, from cryogenics to astroparticle physics together with the related techniques. All teams are universally known for their competence in one or more of these subjects and the network, as an ensemble, in all of them. This multisciplinarity has an obvious training content bringing together young physicists. Their exchange among the groups will lead to a much wider and extended knowledge also on technical subjects. These have an obvious impact in the European Industry, with which the teams of the network are in close contact and collaboration. Subjects like development of low noise electronics, study of the properties of materials at low temperature, crystal growing, measurements of low environmental radioactivity at an unique international level have an obvious training content even from the technical point of view.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
