Objective
The project is concerned with a new European wide activity aimed at providing the public with balanced information concerning various cultural social and economic issues of nuclear science. To achieve this aim and to ensure efficient use of resources, a group of about 23 nuclear scientists from all over Europe with experience in public relations has formed a network under the supervision of the coordinating bodies of nuclear physics in Europe (NuPECC and the NPB/EPS). A board of three scientists guides the network. The board has responsibility to promote the activity, to encourage the cross-fertilization of particular initiatives across Europe, to exchange best practice, to insure a regular critical overview of the initiatives by outside experts and to spread within the nuclear community the need for Public Outreach activities. The requested funds are to cover the overall expenses of efficiently running the network to achieve its aim.
