The "da vinci-darwin-linnaeus initiative" public understanding of science and health 2001

Objective

A three days meeting - PUSH 2001 - with a 100-150 participants will be held in Florence (Italy) in November 2001, in support of European Science and Technology Week. This will link established PUSH initiative in three EU countries - the Da Vinci in Florence, the Darwin in Wales, and the Linnaeus in Sweden. It will be part of a new renaissance for science in Europe. An interactive web site will also be developed (www.darwincentre.com) to network professional scientists, with teachers, students and the public in Italy, Wales, and Sweden, and other EU countries. The meeting will include Lecture demonstrations; The importance of Da Vinci, Darwin and Linnaeus to the scientific heritage of Europe; School project presentations; Workshops on DNA and genetic engineering and a science theatre.
