Raising public awareness of science and technology among ethnic minorities

Objective

In western technological societies maths, science and technology allow access to some people and keep out others especially those from socially underprivileged groups, women and ethnic minorities. The project ETHNIC will aim to increase the public awareness of Science and Technology issues among ethnic minorities with a focus on biotechnology, information technologies and engineering sciences within the European context. The "Young scientists fellowship award" will also be actively stimulated. The target groups would be children from ethnic minorities, including young adults and their parents, and the science and technology community. Events relevant to the topic will be organized in 3 MS and 3 CC including seminars, video presentations, info days, consultative panels and scientific exhibitions.
