Objective
The project is aimed at bridging the gap between the scientists, decision makers involved in managing European waters, and the public in understanding the challenges of water use and protection. The project will include organization of focus groups in three European river basins - in the Motala Stroem in Sweden, the Emajogi River in Estonia, IJsselmeer basin in Netherlands. Citizens' juries will be organized to test and develop the approach, and to practically increase public participation. Guidelines and policy recommendations for using focus groups and citizen juries in preparation and implementation of river basin management plans will be prepared. Guidelines will be published as training kit, on an interactive website for the distance learning and on CD.
