Objective
The aim of the research network over 36 months is to develop empirical, theoretical and policy outcomes regarding the gendered social problem and societal problematisation of men. The result will be facilitation of positive change in policy, practice, academic and public domains. Particular focus is on issues associated with EU social priorities (Social Action Programme 1998-2000), with special emphasis on linkages between the existing EU and several central/east European states. The work schedule centres on staged phases of various forms of data collection/analysis. This is followed by a structured programme of dissemination strategies aimed at user audiences (policy, practices, academic, public). Milestones include a European database on men's practices, a European Documentation Centre, policy papers, publications including two books, a European conference. The network will build on this work beyond the funded period.
