Objective
The objective of this study is to analyse how trans-national mergers - which are the main structural effect on the European industry and economy of the growing role of financial markets - impact employees' participation in the firms. After a bibliographic comparison of current national employee's participation models, a joint industrial economy and industrial anthropology fieldwork research with in depth interviews will be carried out on a sample of four Franco-German mergers. The expected results are twofold: first, to get a better understanding of the reasons for success or failures of the trans-national mergers based on the role played by employees' participation in the merger implementation, and secondly, to contribute to the current policy debate on the juridical frame for an European company. We will therefore prepare and organise a final European interdisciplinary conference to widen the academic and policy analysis of employee's participation to other countries and research fields (management, sociology, law and economics).
