Objective
For many centuries, Poland was the center of European Jewish life but, since the Second Word War, it has become in our memories the symbol of the Shoah. Jan T. Gross's book on the program of Jedwabne perpetrated by countryman against their Jewish neighbors has provoked a national dispute that questions the past of Poland and the official Polish history that still considers that Poland was the victim of Nazism and Stalinism. European consciousness has to be based on the througth of History and the reconciliation with a dolorous past. With this conferences we will organize, we wish to present and analyze the main events of Jewish life in Poland, a country with a complex identity as the meeting place between Eastern and Western Europe
