Objective For many centuries, Poland was the center of European Jewish life but, since the Second Word War, it has become in our memories the symbol of the Shoah. Jan T. Gross's book on the program of Jedwabne perpetrated by countryman against their Jewish neighbors has provoked a national dispute that questions the past of Poland and the official Polish history that still considers that Poland was the victim of Nazism and Stalinism. European consciousness has to be based on the througth of History and the reconciliation with a dolorous past. With this conferences we will organize, we wish to present and analyze the main events of Jewish life in Poland, a country with a complex identity as the meeting place between Eastern and Western Europe Fields of science humanitieshistory and archaeologyhistory Programme(s) FP5-HUMAN POTENTIAL - Programme for research, technological development and demonstration on "Improving the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base" (1998-2002) Topic(s) 1.4.1.-4. - Key action Socio-Economic Knowledge Base Call for proposal Data not available Funding Scheme ACM - Preparatory, accompanying and support measures Coordinator CENTRE COMMUNAUTAIRE LAIEC JUIF ASBL Address Rue de l'hotel des monnaies 52 1060 Bruxelles Belgium See on map EU contribution € 0,00
