Objective
The proposed thematic network addresses decisive aspects of the emerging European sustainability strategy:- the internal coherence and specification of a sustainable model of development, its dimensions and criteria and- the policy integration problems it poses with regard to established mechanisms of policy co-ordination and emerging forms of policy integration in Europe. This is being discussed in a trans-disciplinary network, providing a solid scientific knowledge basis for the development of an emerging new field of European politics and their priorities. Special attention is given to the gender dimension of understanding sustainability and possible divides between new and old member countries.
