Objective
In order to help promoting and bringing depth to a debate on Europe's science and technology, we propose a project which will aim at conceiving and discussing possible institutional scenarios for a further evolution of Europe's S&T policy, and with respect to its content major new orientations and initiatives for its evolution. It will be focused on three main objectives:
-Assessing the future evolution (1999-2010) of the political, socio-economic context of the European science and technology policy and its potential Impact;
-Assessing transformations of the science and technology institutions;
-Taking into account those assessments, building policy institutional scenarios for the future of the European science and technology policy (new mechanisms, new tools, new kinds of institutions, etc).
The output of the project will take the form of position papers and reports on the various issues presenting analyses and scenarios. They will be discussed and cross-examined in workshops to which policy-makers will participate.
