Objective
This project purports to construct and analyse network indicators in science, technology and innovation, using extensive and unique databases on patent applications and patent citations, bibliometrics, and inter-firm partnerships. The partners will prove the usefulness of the constructed network indicators in: empirically appraising the question of network embedded ness of firms and the question of technological/organizational complexity and co-evolution; appraising important policy questions related to the concept of the European Research Area, specifically the identification and effective description of technological/industrial clusters and regional industry agglomerations. The project directly addresses Casita's priorities to provide relevant and comparable indicators at different levels required for the, design, co-ordination and assessment of RTD strategies in Europe and the formation of a consistent European policy on research.
