NorFA conference women in academia - a nordic perspective

Objective

The proposed conference is a high-level multidisciplinary scientific event focused on positive action measures for increasing equality in all scientific fields of study in Academia. It aims at providing a critical and balanced appraisal of gender in higher scientific positions. The lack of female participation is still severely impended by a number of social factors, which perpeptuate inequality in terms of women's access to higher positions and leading roles at the universities. A main target of this NorFA conference is therefore to deepen - through studies in equality - the understanding of the factors that hinder women's full participation in science and to explore possible strategies to facilitate women's access to socio-economic decision-making processes and consequently to citizenship in this area. The conference first looks at current knowledge on the topic and then progresses to future scenarios and solution oriented approaches and "small wins"
