Recovery of energy at the FLORIFFOUX lock on the Sambre for sale to a grid.
Full success of power delivery :
power generated by 1 turbine : 400 kW (expected power : 370 kW)
power generated by both turbines : 750 kW (expected power : 720 kW)
Relative success of last a-year electricity generation : 2,840,872 kWh (mean expected production : 3,150,000 kWh) considering the "hydrologic" depression of that period.
Works carried out successfully in spite of failure of the main supplier, which explains the cost over-runs.
General satisfaction of Navigation managers and power station operator.
Existing weir with automatic lock level regulation with water flowing through new-types turbines. FLOW : 24 CUMS
GROSS HEAD : 3.85
Kaplan turbines of inverted-syphon type coupled through gearbox to asynchronous generator of 500 kW each. Production entirely delivered to mean voltage grid.
INNOVATION :
Recovery of the energy from lock. Optimisation programme (computer) with both nearby and remote control for use of available water and conservation of navigation water level.
Original method of diversion and hydro-machinery for an easy integration to the existing plant.
