Objective
Aim of demo project is to uprate an existing SHP in an irrigation channel by installing a second turbine set of vertical pressure chamber, Francis single block type to use surplus irrigation flow. Annual energy output 825,000 kWh expected and the payback is estimated as 9 years. Innovation is simplified turbine housing of pressure chamber instead of a conventional spiral case.
An existing mini-hydroelectric towerstation exploits the energy of an irrigation channel using a 155 kW turbine/generator. There is an excess flow which is currently only used for irrigation purposes. This project will install a second turbine/generator to exploit all of the excess flow. The novel Francis turbine design has a new type of casing called a "mono-block" which replaces the traditional spiral casing. The operation of the plant will be fully automatic.
Net head 13 m
Flow 2.75 m3/s
Output power 307 kW

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
