Objective
Demonstration of a propeller turbine with innovative radial diffuser draft tube for reducing excavation work. Expected annual energy output: 600,000 kWh. Plant is to be located at a ship lock to demonstrate its suitability for cascade applications. The estimated payback is 15 years.
A propellor type mini-hydroelectric installation providing 120 kW will be demonstrated at a ship lock of the Twente-Drente coral. The propellor will have 4 blades and a diameter of 1.6 m. The installation is novel in respect of the combining of a hydro plant with a ship lock. In addition the design will minimize operation and maintenance costs.
