Objective
Foreseen Results
The success of the project will constitute a technological advance which will have consequences on the creation and the development of many European high-tech and mainly electronic industries. The production of ultra-pure quartz in Europe will brake the USA monopoly and probably will reduce the price of this raw material.
For the Eastern Europe concerned countries, the economical and social benefits are in particular the establishment of these industries will decrease to unemployment rate in those countries .
Moreover the application of those techniques will induce a reduction of energy consumption with as consequence an important environmental benefit.
The proposal include two main goals :
The production of ultra-pure quartz for high-tech applications from high quality quartz vein deposits of Romania and Albania. The ultra-purification needs new techniques or the adaptation of existing techniques. In particular, original techniques (founded on geostatistics) will be used to study and eliminate fluid inclusions and very fine solid inclusions.
