Topical conference on quantitative neotectonics and seismic hazard assessment: new integrated approaches for environmental management

Objective

This project aims to support the participation of 50 researchers from CEECs in the pre-accession phase to the European Union to the conference "Quantitative neotectonics and seismic hazard assessment: New integrated approaches for environmental management" to be organised in Balatonfüred (Hungary), 22-26 September, 2001. The conference is an independent event, however, the European Geophysical Society has recognised its high scientific level and granted it the status of an EGS - Stephan Muller topical conference. The conference will consist of three days of oral and poster presentations and a one day field work. The principal themes cover both traditional and cutting edge fields of geosciences related to seismic hazard assessment and environmental management. Special sessions will introduce the results of some major ongoing EU-sponsored scientific projects that investigate the links between neotectonics and environmental changes.
