Objective
The biennial European Conferences on Fracture is the most important scientific event for researchers in Europe working in the field of Fracture, failure Assessment and Fatigue. 14^th European Conference on Fracture will be organised in the country from the former "Eastern - Block" group of countries for the first time. One of the reasons that Council of ESIS (European Structural Integrity Society) nominated Poland to organise this event was to make the conference more affordable for the young scientists and the scientists and researchers from poorer Eastern and Central Europe Countries. The Fracture Mechanics European community hopes that the conference in Poland may be a breakthrough in attracting researchers from all European countries. So far the aim to organise the European conference at low level of costs has been reached, we hope. The fee is 480 Euro (6 days of the conference) not including hotels (look at the conference web page: http://www.ecf14.simr.pw.cdu.pl(opens in new window)) However , we think that for young people and researchers from poor countries this amount is still too high. This is the reason for this application.
