Recycling of industrial waste and recovering of harmful components of metal and chemical industry into radiation shielding composites

Objective

Composites for radiation protection based on industrial waste are developed via technological and scientific aspects of a composite concept. Combination of waste with absorption properties covers a respective spectrum of radiation; variation of the amount of waste, properties matrix phase are the parameters to meet the requirements of shielding materials like density, strength, thermal stability, etc . Electronic glass scrap, lead slogs, electrochemical slag are treated and combined with cement, ceramic or polymer matrix via composite technology. Such shielding materials are applied as specific work clothes , elements of construction for linear accelerators in medicine or containers for radioactive waste .

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
