Objective
The aim of the present Project is to study the main properties of zeolites: physical, chemical and liquid absorption in order to elucidate the microstructure and ion exchange mechanisms of natural zeolites. Electron irradiation will be carried out to enhance the mentioned properties for a more effective elution of radioisotopes from industrial wastes of atomic stations, which are blown to have a great impact on the environmental conditions of metropolitan areas. The main goals of the Project can be defined as follows: Identification and modification of natural zeolites for their use in Science and Economy; application of zeolites with enhanced absorption properties to elaborate a model cleaning system with high technological efficiency for nuclear waste water treatment.
