A multiple component health promotion programme for rural populations in the ukraine and belarus

Objective

The Newly Independent States need to develop rational health care systems, which will be cost effective, ensure equity, improve access and prevent inequalities in health. The proposed project aims at developing, facilitating, implementing and evaluating a multiple component public health programme for rural communities in Ukraine and Belarus. The main expected results are
(1) the improvement of health status and general well being of the target population,
(2) the expansion of health promotion and preventative care in the target region,
(3) the contribution to health promotion research and practice, and
(4) the building of capacity in local agencies involved in health promotion and care.
