Recovery of methane from vent gases of coal mines and its efficient utilization as a high temperature heat source

Objetivo

The project aims at a new technology development to prevent and premeditate the environmental problems specific to some regions of Russia and south Poland. Methane emissions into atmosphere play a global role in the planet's environmental state by contributing to global warming and influencing the ozone screen. The project includes development of new technologies and equipment for autothermalcombustion of methane from vent gases of coal mines and for efficient use of the energy released at high temperatures. The partners contribute their expertise and experience in the experimental study of combustion and catalytic processes, and in the mathematical modelling of unsteady-state chemical processes. Results dissemination and further applications will make it possible to reduce methane emissions and simultaneously use energy from a so far unused clean source.
