Recycling of crumb rubber and polyolefin waste by producing thermoplastic elastomers

Objective

Aim of the work is the conversion of crumb rubber and polyolefin wastes into thermoplastic Eastover with enhanced properties. The source of materials will be ground tyre rubbers (GTR) and waste post consumer greenhouse covering and mulch films, bottle transportation crates and packaging films, constituted by polyethylene and polypropylene. Using components deriving from post consumer goods, the project aims to develop environmentally benign and sustainable industrial technologies applicable to the chemical sector, contribute to spare raw materials, replace similar products produced from virgin, fresh polymers thus contributing to the secure use of raw materials and energy. The proposed research contributes tithe international scientific cooperation by means of a joint research between scientists of EU and NIS countries. The cooperation between scientists of EU and NIS countries will contribute to solve environmental problems.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
