First ukrainian conference on biomass for energy

Objective

Ukraine has rather big potential of biomass for energy production. The preliminary estimated potential of biomass was about 5.66 mill toe in 1997 that corresponded to about 4% of total primary energy demand in Ukraine. There are a number of barriers on the way of bio energy development in Ukraine. One of them is the almost complete informational vacuum on biomass and bio energy technologies: Ukrainian scientists don't have opportunity to visit world and European conferences on biomass, libraries don't subscribe any journal son this subject. The proposed Project is aimed at holding of the First Ukrainian Conference on Biomass for Energy. The Conference will help to overcome informational vacuum on bio energy technologies. As a result bio energy will receive a powerful incentive for its development in Ukraine. This matter is of great importance because wide use of biomass for energy production can decrease dependence on imported energy carriers, promote sustainable local energy supply and improve ecological situation in the country.
