Assessment of the selected pops(pcbs,pcdds/ps,pocps)in the atmosphere and water ecosystems from the wastematerials generated by warfare in area of former yugosl

Objective

A great part of the former Yugoslavia has recently been encompassed by warfare. The caustic region warrants particular attention because of its exceptional ecological vulnerability to technological and hazardous wastes. Research on the environmental impact of warfare has shown that many sorts of highly stable organic contaminants have entered the environment because the whole range of the various materials used in enterprises, infrastructures and households produce dangerous economic, highly stable organic substances as a result of the various types of devastation that occur during warfare, especially burning. For this reason, it is necessary to investigate the levels and fate of Pops in those areas of the former Yugoslavia, which were affected by the recent war, especially the places where electrical transformer stations were destroyed
