Objective
This proposal concerns an application to obtain funding to organise a scientific conference in the Kramer in May 2002. The title of the conference is Challenges for Forestry in Central European Countries and Newly Independent States (CEC & NIS): breaking through in the EU. Several research projects have been carried out in the fields of environmental changes, wood production and socio-economics of forestry in CEC & NIS and now that developments in these countries are starting to crystallise, it is the appropriate time to present results, and exchange ideas and insights with policy makers forest owners, and NGO'S.
