Objective
The objectives are to examine the need of the participating Mediterranean Partner Countries (Macs) for monitoring land and water resources, the institutions and tools currently in use and the potential role of remote sensing as a tool forereaching a sustainable environment. The goal is to develop a co-operative process whereby the MPC institutions would have better access to up-to-date tools for land and water arrangement. The watershed is expected to be the basic unit for this management. A series of meetings will be held, involving experts on environmental monitoring techniques and those on water and Ian management. The first meeting will cover classification of watershed types and their problems, and the existing infra-structures and tools for monitoring land and water resources. Later meetings will deal with the details of monitoring and modelling techniques, and the developrnent of an integrated decision support system.
