Euro-mediterranean workshop on research priorities on biological, clinical, socio-economic and preventive aspects of genetic disorders in the context of epidemiological transition in the mediterranean.

Objective

In the previous INCO call for proposals, only a few proposals were submitted from Mediterranean partner countries in the biomedical research domain. This delineates insufficient mobilisation of the Mediterranean scientific community. By organising a workshop, as an accompanying measures for INCO2, our aim is to help identify and create networks of several research groups from European countries and Mediterranean partner countries. The research activity of the selected groups fits to the FP5 objectives and priorities for 2001 calls for promoting healthy societies. The workshop aims to identify research priorities on regionally specific preventive, biological and clinical aspects of important genetic disorders and chronic diseases with genetic basis in the context of epidemiological transition. This workshop will lead to the creation of networks which will propose projects to the 2001 call.
