Novel catalytic technologies for the treatment of wastewater from agro-food and industrial productions in MED countries

Objective

The project will address the question of wastewater treatment and recycle in agro-food and industrial productions and specifically the case of olive oil milling wastewater (OMW) to allow their safe use for irrigation. This problem is addressed by
1) making a survey of wastewater production and of the characteristics needed by wastewater treatment technologies (WTT) to be applicable in MPC countries,
2) developing novel innovative technologies for wastewater treatment based on oxidative catalytic treatments and integrating them into wastewater technology train, and
3) specific actions for knowledge transfer cooperation training and education in the area of water resources as well as dissemination of the results and increase of the public awareness on these questions.
