Objective
Ecological and biological research on the tropical continental shelf and coastal ecosystems is still needed in order to assess and contribute to biological diversity and to assess alterations due to human impact and global environmental changes. Moreover, in the past, the research done was not effectively communicated to political decision makers. The main objective of this project is to try to draw together the researchers and politicians in industrialised and developing countries into the same projects and programs, so that a direct link can be established between them. In this context a meeting will be organised for selected European and DC scientists and enterprises interested in research on sustainable aquaculture and other environmentally friendly production systems. Expected result of this meeting will be the preparation of two-three large and well sounded projects to be submitted to the further INCO-DEV calls on the subject.
