Objective
The mediterranean Conference of Photobiology will be the 7th workshop organized by FABAMED - a cooperative research group for biological nitrogen fixation in the mediterranean basin. This Conference will be an attempt to expose the group , and its strategy and results, to other scientists involved in nitrogen fixation and legumes for mediterranean agricultures. Therefore, the overall objective is to improve production and stabilize grain yield of legumes in mediterranean areas , with an emphasis on the mediterranean basin. Indeed, we aim to close the gap between the genetic potential of symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF) (estimated to be 70-90% of N-need for the plant depending upon legume species) and the current contribution of SNF (on the average below 30% of N-need in mediterranean areas).
