Practihc (pragmatic trials in health care systems) : an international rtd network to facilitate information for action on priority health problems

Objective

1. All countries have limited health care budgets, especially poorer countries, who also have fast worsening disease burdens. 2. Health care interventions and delivery systems are often less effective than expected. 3. Improving the impact of health care on health status depends on implementing effective health care interventions and systems. 4. Information on effectiveness for any particular policy choice is unreliable, irrelevant to real world situations, or nonexistent. 5. We will review barriers to integration of festiveness research into health care decision making, develop tools and training to help researchers and policymakers to overcome these barriers; and test these in the course of developing and/or conducting 15 pragmatic trials where decision makers are evaluating important health interventions and systems.
