Improving food systems in sub-saharan africa - responding to a changing environment

Objective

The state of the art of research and development activities in sub-Saharan Africa will be measured through an internet based forum and international working group. The measure will be used to
(a) inform policy agenda at national, regional and international levels,
(b) influence on-going and future research and development activities to ensure impact and
(c) influence future research investments in the sector. Interaction of staff involved in EU, IFS (International Foundation for Science)and other donor and nationally funded research activities will improve the quality of outputs delivered through adoption of best practice and a common based forum and the working meeting will enable a broad range of participants to be involved. IFS support will facilitate a forum for young scientists to present their work and to allow established scientists to contribute to the debate.
